Description
My 3rd watercolor attempt yet.
This was more of a flesh-tone study than anything else.
I have no idea how to paint black hair. I've heard that you should never use the actual color black to paint hair, because perhaps it "flattens" a picture (and I've seen it)
Don't stare at the tiara too long, cause it'll give you a headache. I don't know how to paint gold yet.
In the off-chance someone recognizes who this is... care to share?
Critique (especially painting tips) HIGHLY requested.
Colors digitally enhanced in SAI.

I'm actually a digital artist, I haven't done watercolor since High School, but I do know something of the medium so I am admittedly not the best critique for this piece. But I will will be blunt, and give you my best critique.
First of all...STOP BELLY ACHING, YOU DID A GREAT JOB! The hair does have life although the shading is more of a bluish gray. Perhaps an over use of dilution of water. None the less it does come across color wish. Even the Tiara shows depth, and originality. I am suspecting there is a lot of you in this work. It is the slight imperfection that actually make this a wonderful image. Over the portrait is VERY recognizable. I love the smile, the facial features, and those beautiful blue eyes.
You have done Linda Carter justice, as well as me for submitting this piece. Despite your warranted opinions, I love this piece and hope to see more.
