Accepted into Master Du Mahn’s Jedi Initiate Academy on Bodgen-3 during his early toddler years, Verza, born ‘Krev'erz'akuurevudeokai’, was a tenacious youngling determined to become the best Jedi in his Academy; he often displayed a ‘laid-back’ and ‘arrogant’ attitude as opposed to the often tense and impersonal attitude of his Chiss species. Under the guidance of Master Zao Van, a leading teacher at the Academy, he quickly became one of the top students in the Bogden-3 training facility – a rank he shared with two of Master Van’s other directly trained Padawans: Larissa Iris and Arun Corliss.

In the year 27 BBY; Zao Van assigned Verza (20) and Larissa Iris to infiltrate an up-and-coming group of Pirates, which called themselves ‘The Bull Rancors’, who may have had ties to the mysterious Sith Cult that killed Iris’ parents many years before, and were then running a weapons smuggling ring in the Outer Rim Territories. Larissa went under the name ‘Alys Endel’ and Verza used ‘Terek Korrado’.

Continuously disrupting the Rancors’ cargo deliveries and wiping out all the witnesses’ memories of the event to get the Pirates’ main boss’s attention, Iris and Verza knowingly walked into an ambush set by the Pirates’ Captain, Aalto Talonspyre, and finally confronted him. They requested a position on his ship, preferably as ‘Grunts’. Impressed by their guts, he welcomed them aboard his ship ‘The Bull Rancor’ – to the chagrin of two of the crewmembers, Thessa Forlin and Anami ‘Gadon’ Rennagen; a Human Female Sharpshooter, and an Abyssin petty thug, but both the best of their kind on the ship. Aboard The Bull Rancor, Verza and Iris were treated quite well, and integrated with the rest of the crew seamlessly. Iris was assigned to be the ‘muscle’, as her shooting skills (secretly enhanced by the Force) were on par with Forlin’s, and Verza was assigned to haul cargo along with Rennagen – coincidentally. The two Jedi Knights secretly continued to update their progress on this mission to their master, Zao Van.
